Kingdom KidsEvery Sunday is a Super Sunday! Each Sunday morning during our 9:00 and 11:00 A.M. Worship Services, our Children's Church programs present the relevant message of Jesus Christ through music, drama, powerpoint, puppetry, object lessons, and clowning. The Bible is studied in creative ways to promote depth and practicality in every child's life.
| NurseriesMinistry begins with our youngest members, and our babies and toddlers are no exception. Our trained workers offer loving care to each infant and toddler as well as easy to understand Bible lessons. We provide quality nursery care during all services for children ages 0-3 years:
| Ignite YouthWith Ignite, we want to reach young adults in our region and around the globe. We have a faith-inspired Youth Group completely on fire for what Christ has for us. Services start around 6:30 and usually last an hour and a half. Come and try it out: we promise you won't be disappointed. | The Gathering

Free Indeed is not limited to drug and alcohol abuse; it also encompasses many other issues like anger, codependency, grief, depression, divorce issues and sexual addictions that affect our daily lives. Free Indeed Ministry participants take Jesus Christ into their hearts, admit their weaknesses and short comings to Him and to their community. With the empowering grace of Jesus Christ we learn to live a better life through His guidance, the wisdom of the scriptures, and the fellowship of other Christians. We are individuals moving towards freedom. Our goal is not to stay forever in recovery, but through the power of a relationship with Jesus Christ, we will one day obtain total freedom. Faith based Christian recovery encourages participants to accept Jesus Christ into their hearts, and let His will and His strength guide them from their weakness, to the fulfillment of a life free from life controlling problems in the fellowship of the Christian Church. | Habitat for HumanityWhat's Habitat all about?Habitat for Humanity of Catawba Valley is a non-profit, community based organization dedicated to building affordable housing for hard-working, low income families. While it is affiliated with Habitat for Humanity International, a Georgia-based ecumenical Christian ministry, it is governed by a local board of directors. Habitat brings diverse segments of the community - churches and temples, businesses and individuals, service clubs and foundations - together with the common goal of financing and constructing homes for deserving families. All families who qualify for Habitat homes must have lived in crowded or substandard housing. Habitat not only offers families the opportunity to own a home, but it also moves families with children out of at risk neighborhoods and into safer environments. Families are qualified for ownership based on a sliding income scale and various other factors that include "credit worthiness." The Outreach CenterThe Outreach Center is a community-based, 501(c)(3), nonprofit, relief organization serving Burke and the surrounding counties in Western North Carolina through food, education, clothing, Food Stamp Program outreach, nutrition and exercise, and crisis-assistance programs. Helping Hands Campaign - The need for The Outreach Center's programs in Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, and surrounding counties is increasing. Funding sources that The Outreach Center has relied on are beginning to dwindle. Because of these factors, the Board of Directors of The Outreach Center would like to ask you to join with us to provide sustainable funding for the wonderful programs provided by this vital organization. We proudly introduce to you the Helping Hands Campaign. We are asking everyone who can lend a "helping hand" to commit to a donation of $20 per month for one year. For $240 per year, you can help ensure the existence of the crucial programs provided by The Outreach Center. Our goal is to find 1,000 donors who are able to partner with us by giving to the Helping Hands Campaign. Please contact The Outreach Center for more information or to request a Helping Hands Campaign brochure and pledge card. | MissionariesAssemblies of God World Missions

| Motor RacingMike Hatton is the head of our Motor Racing Outreach (MRO) ministry to the drivers at the Tri-County Racetrack. Ron Pegram, chaplain of his own MRO ministry, will be assisting Mike with training those interested. If you would like to participate in this type of ministry please contact Mike at 828-850-7118. | Prison MinistryYokefellowsYokefellows is an opportunity for adults (men or women) people from the "outside" (LIKE YOU!) to meet and spend time with a male inmate (age 18-24) once a week. You get a great opportunity to be a listening ear, and to share the love of Christ with a person who may or may not be a Christian. Some of these guys have no one to visit them. They are all human beings who would really appreciate a visit and someone to talk with. The Chaplain provides some questions that can be used as discussion starters, or you can go in your own direction (hopefully as the Lord leads). The inmates are selected by the Chaplains and prayerfully matched up with volunteers. Those of us who have done this in the past can testify that we have seen the hand of God in the matches. The next Yokefellows event will run on Thursdays, from May 5th through June 23, 2011, 6:30-8pm. This session we will be back with inmates from the general prison population. Some of them are born again believers who would love to fellowship with Christians from 'outside'. Others are non Christian and may or may not be seeking the Lord, but they would love to meet people from 'outside'. This is another opportunity to be a blessing to some of the people whom God loves. If you would like to participate, please contact Chaplain Turbeville (see below). If you do not have a volunteer blue card, he will be conducting another training session soon, at the prison. You can enter your application online » From time to time sessions are conducted for the inmate population in seg (solitary confinement). Only male volunteers will be allowed to participate due to the nature of the group being ministered to. As soon as a date is announced, it will be posted on this site. If you have never done volunteer work in Foothills Correctional Institute, but would like to, then please complete the on-line VOLUNTEER APPLICATION below. All volunteers must complete the mandatory training. A special class will be scheduled in the Chapel. If you have any questions, please contact one of the individuals below by email or phone. Looking forward to working with you as we minister to others in need.

This is a 2 day event held annually at Foothills Correctional Institution, and also at Western Youth Institution. Fathers in the prison are brought together with their children, some of whom have not met for years. Scottie Barnes who heads up this organization knows first hand the pain of having a father in prison. She shares her powerful testimony with the inmates. During the events inmates have accepted the Lord as their savior. Volunteers from the surrounding community have had the privilege of watching the Lord work in the lives of Dads and Children. Watch this site for more information when the next event is organized. You may just want to participate. For more info, contact: Mike Matangelo - mike@teammetro.net - 828-851-0674 Real World DayWestern Youth Institute (13-18 year old males) hosts a REAL WORLD DAY twice a year. They will need volunteers to help the boys role play real life situations, like finding an apartment, buying a car, paying for utilities, etc. They will be attending classes in the days prior to learn how to write checks, make budgets, etc. Watch this site for the next event date. | Sidewalk Sunday SchoolSidewalk Sunday School is an outreach of our Children's Ministry and is designed to meet the needs of our inner city children while bringing the message of salvation through songs, skits, games, object lessons, and Bible stories. These outdoor services are held in various locations throughout the Hickory area. Geared for children between the ages of 3-12, it provides an opportunity for children to be with friends and make new friends in a safe Christian environment. Sidewalk Sunday School helps children learn basic life skills and a Christian lifestyle that will guide them into a successful future. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend. I believe that God is seeking for those who will worship Him in Spirit and in Truth, not just for a beautiful sound for Him to enjoy, but for us to build an atmosphere so He can have communion with us. I'm looking and listening for a NEW sound that will draw believers and unbelievers into His Presence and commune with Him." - Janey Dolphens The Worship Team is instrumental in leading us into the presence of God through music. Vocal positions are open to members of the choir through audition. Instrumentalists are invited to audition! This team exists of the worship leader, vocalists, and instrumentalists. The Worship Ministry Team is actively seeking those who have hearts of service and skill in this area. For more information on joining the worship team, please contact Janey Dolphens. | ChoirThe Choir provides a wonderful opportunity for those who desire to use their vocal talents for the glory of God.
